Valdai Club to Discuss Russia-India Relations
Online

On May 15  at 12:00, the Valdai Discussion Club, in partnership with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), will hold a webinar on Russian-Indian relations.

The Valdai Club has historically paid great attention to relations between Russia and India. In recent years, both countries have announced their intention to enter new areas of bilateral cooperation, maintaining the same pace in such priority areas as military-technical cooperation. In the wake of the pandemic, the leaders and foreign affairs ministries of Russia and India have continued to be in contact. So, on May 9, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Russia on its Victory Day anniversary, emphasising India’s special solidarity with the Russians.

In late April, India decided to supply anti-malaria drugs to Russia that have proven effective against coronavirus.

During the webinar, experts will also discuss new trends in international relations. One of them is the growing confrontation between the United States and China, which is especially important in the context of relations between Russia, India and China. The situation between India and China remains tense. The incident on the Indian-Chinese border in the Himalayas on May 10 only confirms this.

What do current events bring to relations between Moscow and Delhi? How will other major powers influence relations between Russia and India? Will the partners be able to maintain equilibrium in an increasingly unstable world order? How will the world after the pandemic affect these goals – will it provide new opportunities or create new problems? Webinar participants will answer these and other questions.
