Currently, the Arab countries of the Middle East and North Africa are facing significant socio-economic challenges. There are some integration processes in the region, but their speed and effectiveness raise concerns.

The Valdai Paper titled “Economic Integration in the Middle East: Problems and Prospects” analyses integrational capacities of the Arab countries of the Middle East and North Africa. The work presents a research on the major problems undermining the real integration of the region. It also suggests some approaches to strengthening integration processes in the Middle East.

What are the main socio-economic challenges the Arab countries in the Middle East are facing? What hinders the integrational projects? What new economic and political opportunities can be opened in the Arab world due to consolidation?
