The Valdai Club and the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies (ISMI) under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a conference, titled “Russia and Uzbekistan: Common Challenges and New Solutions”.

On October 16–17, 2023, the Valdai Discussion Club and the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies (ISMI) under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a conference in Khiva, Uzbekistan on the topic “Russia and Uzbekistan: Common Challenges and New Solutions”.

The participants discussed issues on the bilateral agenda of Russian-Uzbek relations in the context of growing interdependence.

This conference is not the first meeting between experts from the Valdai Club and ISMI. In 2019, on the sidelines of the 10th Asian Conference of the Club in Samarkand, Andrei Bystritskiy, Chairman of the Board of the Valdai Club Foundation, and Eldor Aripov, Director of ISMI, signed a cooperation agreement between the Valdai Discussion Club and the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan. In 2020, the partners organised an online conference, “Opportunities of Russia and the Central Asian States in Afghanistan.” In 2021, the Valdai Club and ISMI held a conference in Tashkent on the topic “Russia and Uzbekistan facing development and security challenges at a new historical stage of interaction.”
