Valdai Club

On June 21, 2016, the Valdai Discussion Club will hold a meeting with António Guterres, the candidate for UN Secretary-General, UN High Commissioner for Refugees (2005 - 2015), Prime Minister of the Republic of Portugal (1995 - 2002). Main topic of the discussion - "Migration flows as global politics factor".

In today's world, the number of forced and illegal migrants grows exponentially. Forced migration is an absolute challenge to all global players, and the answer must be sought together. The massive influx of refugees into the European Union from the Middle East and North Africa in fact turned into a humanitarian catastrophe, it has shaken the foundations of the EU migration policy and created a threat to regional security.

What are the ways to solve the European crisis? How long will it last? What configuration it will acquire in the future? These and other questions will be discussed during the meeting of António Guterres with the Valdai Club experts.
