The Round Table, titled "Education: How to Secure Country’s Success Amid Global Stratification," will be held on April 12, 2017, under the auspices of the HSE XVIII April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.
The Valdai Discussion Club and VTsIOM launched the "Future Preparedness Index" project. The task of the project is to analyze the readiness of countries to respond to the challenges of tomorrow, their role in future scenarios, competitiveness for a variety of economic and political criteria, development of industries and social infrastructure, analysis of Russia's place in the world powers' rating.
At a time when the global development economic paradigm is changing, competition between countries is not simply aggravated, failure becomes fatal. Replacing the universalism (at least the desire for it) of the world order is fragmentation, stratification, concentration of each state in self-development, even at the expense of others.
The key to success is becoming the ability to produce intellectual property and breakthrough technologies, only in this case the country has a chance to "catch" the world's "nucleus." Otherwise, slipping into the second and third levels is inevitable. The main burden is placed on education. How can it be arranged to meet the challenges of the mid-21st century?
Issues for discussion:
Digital inequality and problems of the future education
Perception of opportunities for getting education in the Russian society on the basis of surveys
Technological development and opportunities/need for continuous education
