On April 2, at 14:00, the TASS press centre (Tverskoy Boulevard, Building 2, 2nd floor, Moscow, Russia) will host an online press conference with the participation of the leadership of the Valdai Discussion Club and international experts, titled “Valdai Club and Agenda-2020: Global Challenges from a Pandemic to Climate Change and Their Impact on World Security.”
The coronavirus pandemic has made tangible changes in human life. The world order as we knew it is breaking up before our eyes, relations between countries are being destroyed, globalisation processes are undergoing a serious transformation. The virus has sapped the strength of almost all areas of human life.
Significant attention of the Valdai Discussion Club will be directed to the analysis and forecasts of international development amid conditions of transport and economic closures, the role of international organisations during the crisis in the health sector, the experience of individual countries in stopping the epidemic, the impact on integration processes in Europe and other parts of the world, the problems and prospects of migration in these conditions, as well as the impact of environmental problems on the world economy, which until recently seemed to be one of the main challenges.
Before the pandemic broke the plans of almost all of humanity, the Valdai Club had planned that climate and environmental issues would become a central theme in its work for the year 2020. Every pandemic ends sooner or later, but climate-related problems will remain on the agenda, so the Club will continue to work on the climate agenda.
The press conference with the participation of the leadership and leading experts of the Valdai Club will be devoted to this issue, as well as to what the consequences of today’s events could be for the world, states, international institutions and people’s consciousness. The participants will share their understanding of what is happening in the context of a radical transformation of the world, as well as talk about working plans for this year.
Broadcast will be available on all online platforms of the Valdai Club: the website, Facebook, VK, Instagram, Telegram, and Twitter as well as on the TASS website on the announcement page and the TASS press centre Facebook group.
