On September 18, at 11:00, the Valdai Discussion Club will host a presentation of the results of the joint project of the Russia Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) and the Valdai Club titled “Future Preparedness Index 2019”.

VCIOM General Director Valery Fedorov and Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club Andrei Bystritskiy will report on how the index has changed since the project’s launch in 2017 according to a wide range of economic, political, social, cultural, technological, and other criteria.

Future Preparedness Index is a joint project of VCIOM and the Valdai Discussion Club designed to observe the G20 countries and assess their adaptation potential.

Participants in the presentation will find out which are the top three G20 countries in terms of their preparedness for the future challenges, what is Russia’s position in various fields, who made a breakthrough and who lost their positions over the past two years. Experts will discuss why countries’ rankings in the Index have changed, and try to make predictions about the near future.

According to Andrei Bystritskiy, the Index is “a unique project, being an attempt to take a close look at the G20 countries”. It aims not to assess the “e-government performance index or the number of houses provided with cable networks”, but rather to try and “see how much the country is in overall ready for the future and various twists of fate”.
