List of speakers

On September 17, 2019, at 11:00 the Valdai Club will host an expert discussion, titled “Cooperation between China and Russia amid new international conditions.”

Despite the sanctions and trade wars against China and Russia, there are many supporters for maintaining and strengthening relations with the United States and its allies. Opponents of Sino-Russian rapprochement and cooperation cast doubts on the prospects of bilateral relations. Keeping this in mind, observers agree that at the moment, there is no complete understanding, either by Moscow or Beijing, of what strengthening bilateral relations entails.

What hinders China and Russia in developing a unified policy and course of action regarding the sanctions and trade wars of the United States? Do Moscow and Beijing need to develop a common strategy for their relations with Europe? If so, what would it entail? How far are Russia and China ready to go in pursuing strategic military-cooperation? What are the main obstacles from the perspective of the Russia and China? The participants in the discussion will answer these and many other questions.
