According to Zhang Jianping, Director, Center for Regional Economic Cooperation, Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation of the Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and China have good prospects for improving cooperation in various fields on the basis of One Belt, One Road initiative, from single projects, such as high-speed railways to even larger-scale projects. China is ready to discuss free trade and investments agreements with the EAEU, and respects EAEU rules and regulations.
As to the bilateral cooperation between China and Russia, the trade volume between two countries still needs to be expanded, providing better investment environment, reducing transit costs. There are three important areas: infrastructure (airports, railways, roads), high value added manufacturing sectors (hi-tech, human resources, aviation, new materials), and the service sector (education, culture, tourism, sports).
