The COVID-19 pandemic has disappeared from the front pages of the world media. Large-scale quarantines, radical changes to familiar processes, economic losses, and anti-crisis measures are forgotten. COVID itself has become almost a standard problem, comparable to the flu or respiratory infections.
However, the pandemic left a rich political, economic, and social legacy. It has become an important indicator of the continued central role of the state in resolving crisis situations. Neither corporations nor international organisations have been able to replace the state as the main anti-crisis manager.
