Valdai Discussion Club
List of speakers

On March 27, at 10:00, the Valdai Discussion Club will host an online discussion, titled: “Oil Wars: A Zero-Sum Game.”

March has been marked by a series of shocks in the oil market. After the collapse of the OPEC+ deal, oil prices fell to historic lows. The main oil exporters faced serious challenges and entered into fierce competition for the market. This situation has created serious uncertainty, which has exacerbated problems for countries that are already struggling with strict US sanctions – Iran and Venezuela.

What strategies will be chosen by the key players – Russia, Saudi Arabia and the USA? Is it possible that US sanctions will be used against the Russian oil sector? What are the prospects for US companies engaged in the production of shale oil? What are the best strategies for Russia in the current environment? Participants of the expert discussion will answer these and other questions.
