Joint Conference of the Valdai Discussion Club and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs with Participation of the Russian-American Council for Business Cooperation
Moscow

A joint conference of the Valdai Discussion Club and the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RSPP), titled “Economic cooperation between Russia and the United States in conditions of uncertainty,” will be held in Moscow on March 13 as part of the Russian Business Week.

In recent years, relations between the United States and Russia have remained tense. The parties cannot reach a compromise on a number of international issues. The United States persists in its use of economic sanctions. Russia, in turn, has imposed restrictive retaliatory measures. Obviously, in the coming years, Russian and American businesses will remain under political pressure. Amid these conditions, the private sector in Russia and the United States must adapt to the new legal and political realities. The focus of the conference’s participants will be on the following issues:

  • Problems and prospects for developing cooperation between Russian and American businesses;

  • Key projects and common interests of Russian and US businesses in the economy and investment;

  • Existing and potential risks, as well as opportunities for expanding interaction;

  • Measures to promote bilateral cooperation.

The basis of the discussion is a report titled "Russia–US. Economic Cooperation in Turbulent Times," prepared by experts from the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, the Russian-American Council for Business Cooperation, the Higher School of Economics and the Valdai Discussion Club with the assistance of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham) and the US-Russia Business Council (USRBC), which will be presented during the conference. In addition, the participants may have a look at the Valdai Club report “Coercing the Unruly: The Perfect Storm of Sanctions War.”

The conference will be attended by prominent businessmen and experts in the field of Russian-American relations, geopolitics and economics, including:

  • Andrey Bystritskiy, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club;
