Gürkan Kumbaroğlu

Professor Kumbaroglu holds a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey. He has worked as a guest researcher at the Center for Energy Policy and Economics, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, and at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, US. He was a visiting professor at RWTH Aachen University, Germany; the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil; the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China; the University of Campinas, Brazil; and the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria.



Professor Kumbaroglu has received Turkey’s first Energy Oscar in the category of Scientific Contribution to Energy Markets, awarded at the 17th International Energy and Environment Conference in 2011. He has further received the Visiting Professorship Award for Senior International Scientists, awarded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2012.



Professor Kumbaroglu is an Editorial Board member of the journals Sustainability, Innovative Energy Policies, and Journal of Self-Governance and Management Economics. He published numerous peer-reviewed articles as well as several book chapters on energy and environmental policy.



Professor Kumbaroglu is a member of the Executive and Supervisory Board of the Center for Economics and Foreign Policy Studies EDAM. He is the Founding President of the Turkish Association for Energy Economics EED and President-Elect of the International Association for Energy Economics IAEE.
