In his interview with Andrey Sushentsov Prof. William Wohlforth speaks on the dynamic of great power politics in the 21st century. He states that this century will be a single-superpower world where stability will prevail. That does not exclude frictions with other major centers of power in Europe and Asia. Prof. Wohlforth states that modern international crises among major powers would not bring about a disastrous war. Neither he see the possibility for current Russia-West standoff to develop into a “Cold War-2”, but rather a modest and brief period of a “Cold War Light”, that would eventually end with a new Détente.
