Vyacheslav Trubnikov, formerly Director of Foreign Intelligence Service of the Russian Federation (1996-2000), First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation (2000-2004), talks about the factors behind the rise of terrorism in the Middle East and ways of fighting its expansion.
According to Trubnikov, terrorism as an issue can be solved, but its main solution is the destruction of its social base through improvements of the socio-economic situation. He added that it is difficult to define terrorism internationally because each state and society interprets terrorism in its own way.
