Regarding Iranian foreign policy, Mahdi Sobhani, Director General for Strategic Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, there is four basic principles: making constructive interactions, pursuing peace and security, mutual respect, which implies no interferences in the domestic affairs of other countries, and complying to international obligations. “Iran is satisfied with its geographical positions”, he argues, so “the main challenge for Iran today is the presence of foreigners in the region, who want to impose their dominance upon it”.
