Abdallah Al-Dardari: Prospects of Post-War Reconstruction of Syria

During the conference “The Middle East: From Violence to Security”, which was held in February by the Valdai Discussion Club in partnership with the Institute of Oriental Studies Abdallah Al-Dardari, Deputy Prime Minister of Syria (2005–2011), and now a senior UN official made an interesting presentation on the issues of post-war reconstruction in Syria. In this interview, he reveals the basic provisions of its recommendations in this context.
Despite the ongoing military action in Syria, the prospects for a political settlement in the country are becoming more real. This brings the necessary to put on the agenda the question of what to do after the war. The talkers analyse the problem of the financial donation which Syria needs, the problem of reconstruction of enterprises and trends for the export of products. Despite the controversial nature of some of the proposed measures, this interview is an interesting attempt to "look beyond the horizon" at the end of February, 2016.
