The Valdai Club  report presentation showed that there are still huge differences of opinions about what next to do with Russia-EU relations

In spite of tensions a dynamic dialogue between Russia and the European Union continues in various political and economic directions.

There has emerged, and is widening, even an ideological rift between Europa and Russia that to a certain extent is due to the geopolitical conflict, not so much between Europe and Russia, but more between Washington and Moscow.

Despite the Valdai Club report’s optimism, the EU’s internal difficulties could make restoring relations with Russia more difficult.

While Russia is undergoing a process of consolidation and formation of its political nationhood, the EU has the issues of multi-nationhood, hidden conflicts and weak identity. In some respects, the EU, developing its relations with Russia, sees itself in a mirror, and reacts quite painfully.
