On April 8, the Valdai Club hosted the presentation of a new report, titled “The Evolution of the BRICS Value Platform”. BRICS has become a significant association for the leading countries of the global majority, and has attracted more and more participants, partners and observers. From the very beginning, the image of BRICS as an alternative to the West has prevailed in the perception of the member states, although representatives of these countries constantly emphasise that its activities are not directed against third countries. At the same time, as an independent centre of power and attraction, BRICS is beginning to establish its own values. The analysis of the declarations that follow regular BRICS summits, presented in the report, shows the emergence of value principles. Through these, the association builds its activities, as well as common goals. In this way, the BRICS declarations differ from the declarations of the G20, where a common value platform is absent.
