“Concerning the political transition in Syria, we have to move from very bad situation to an improved situation,” says Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, Deputy Special Envoy for Syria of the United Nations (2014-2019). The UN has already outlined the consequence of the process: “First, you need to have a Constitution, then you will have elections, and then the Syrian people will have an opportunity to decide their future. I hope the next year will provide the breathing space for the Syrians, but also for the international community to reassess the situation and help them to exercise their free will,” he concludes.
