In July 2017, Russia and China agreed to cooperate on the Northern Sea Route and the joint development of the so-called Polar Silk Road. This initiative contributes to the overall development of Northeast China and the Russian Far East, promotes trade and economic cooperation between the Korean Peninsula, Japan and Europe, and opens new horizons for cooperation between Asia and Europe.
