World energy markets have undergone significant changes in the first 20 years of the XXI century. The importance of green energy (energy from energy resources that are renewable or inexhaustible on a human scale) is growing. An increasingly important role in the world is played by "green policy" based on an environmental agenda and aimed at phasing out hydrocarbon energy. In 2019, for the first time ever, more electricity was generated from renewable sources than from fossil fuels.
