The club’s third conference, “Global Energy in the 21st Century: Russia’s Role and Position” was devoted to energy security – the main issue on the agenda of the 2006 G8 summit in St. Petersburg. Participants had an opportunity to visit Russia’s crucial oil producing region – the Khanty-Mansiisk Autonomous Area – and meet with experts in the field, high-ranking government officials and executives from major energy companies.
Participants of the Valday international club comprising leading political analysts and journalists from various countries held a meeting with the top managers of Russia's oil companies and representatives of the Energy Ministry.
