Valdai Club to Hold Discussion on Eurasian Integration in Partnership With Higher School of Economics and Eurasian Economic Commission

At noon on November 11, the Valdai Discussion Club, in partnership with HSE University and the Eurasian Economic Commission, will hold an expert discussion, “A New Dimension of Eurasian Integration: Results of the Five-Year Anniversary of the Eurasian Economic Union” .

This year marks five years since the signing of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, which brought together five countries: Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. The Union is actively developing international relations with states from various parts of the world. In 2016, a free trade agreement (FTA) entered into force between the EAEU and Vietnam. In early October 2019, an FTA agreement was signed between the EEU and Singapore. In late October, a similar agreement was concluded with Serbia. An Interim Agreement leading to the formation of an FTA with Iran entered into force on October 28.

The discussion hosted by the Valdai Club and its partners will be dedicated to strategic prospects for the development of Eurasian economic integration by 2025. During the session, leading experts will discuss improving upon the development model of Eurasian economic integration, strengthening the existing institutions of the EAEU, and its potential expansion. The participants in the discussion will address institutional, economic and regulatory instruments that will help reduce the contradictions between the member states of the EAEU, as well as key areas for the development of trade and economic cooperation with foreign partners.
