List of speakers

On October 7 at 11:00 Moscow Time (GMT+3), the Valdai Club will host an expert discussion, titled “A New Model of Relations Between Russia and Turkey in the Crisis of the International Order”.

Relations between Russia and Turkey are an example of complex interaction between partners in the modern international arena. Having overcome several stress tests, the two countries have managed to develop an effective model of cooperation, which to this day contributes to the mutually beneficial promotion of their interests. Although Turkey is a member of NATO, it is pursuing its own policy towards Ukraine. Ankara did not implement the West’s sanctions against Moscow. This became possible thanks to the art of diplomacy and the mutual trust between the leaders of the two countries.

In the era of the dewesternisation of the international system, cooperation between Russia and Turkey can become a resource for strengthening the strategic sovereignty of the two countries.

How have bilateral relations between Russia and Turkey changed since the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine? What role do Russia and Turkey play in the formation of a new polycentric international system in Europe and the Middle East? What opportunities does this system provide to its participants? Participants of the expert discussion will answer these and other questions.
