China-US-Russia Trilateral Relations under the Context of International Configuration in Transition /October 2010
Numerous experts in the international relations, economy and political science are profoundly interested in the triangular relations between Russia, China and the United States. The post-Cold War trilateral relationship between them provokes so much interest due to a simple reason that the three countries are the most influential players in different areas in the world and their trilateral relations certainly have lasting effect on international affairs and world structure.
The report starts with a brilliant research on a theory of study of the trilateral relations, then the author highlights the major viewpoints on the nature if the trilateral relations dominating the intellectual landscape in the three countries. The report closes off with cautiously positive chapter on the future international order and on the patterns of development of the trilateral relations.
The author – Feng Shaolei, Director of the Centre for Russian Studies of the East China Normal University and Member of the Valdai Discussion Club Advisory Board - sees them as relatively asymmetrical and dynamic process that, however, will be able to address the main problems of the modern world. The report was produced for the Russian-Chinese section of the Valdai International Discussion Club in October 2010.
