Lamberto Zannier: Carving Out Space for Dialogue and Letting OSCE Develop is Best Approach

OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier talks about the international debate regarding the changing role of the organization. He noted that dealing with such issues as the Ukraine conflict have been an important factor in the debate regarding what the role of the organization should be like in the future.

According to Zannier, the OSCE as an organization has evolved thanks to its flexibility and while its mandate in Ukraine is dedicated to monitoring, consultation with various states and sides of the conflict allows the organization to expand its role. He added that US policy toward the organization has not changed despite the new US president’s distaste for international organizations.
