Valdai Club does what is absent in the world today. In the UN Security Council no one speaks to each other. Diplomats who are supposed to dialogue, actually walk out of the meetings. In this Valdai Club conference it was so important to bring people together, make them listen and have discussions.
Qualities of the Valdai Club discussions are very high. I admire the way in which foreign minister Sergey Lavrov and president Vladimir Putin met with the experts, and discussed many issues frankly and openly. Neo-liberalism pushes us apart claiming "You either with us or against us". And in-between there is no discussion. Valdai tries to bring people together even at the time of polarization of enmity. We need de-escalation, otherwise we will go to war.
