World Conflicts and Peace Processes

In 2017, there were 43 peace processes globally. In 81% of cases, they included third parties. The United Nations participated in almost half of peace processes (20 out of 43 cases), first of all, in the settlement of various conflicts – the Middle East Quartet, the Libyan Quartet, IGAD Plus in South Sudan. Regional organizations, especially EU and OSCE, play an important mediator role in Europe (86%).
