Nobuo Shimotomai: The Valdai club offers chances to understanding of Russian realities and, above all, messages of what the Kremlin really wants to convey. Of course, how to interpret its contexts is always controversial, and thus interesting, even though I do not agree with some of official statements. What is rather lacking in recent discourses are the Asian perspectives of what Russians under the present regime want to do with. It may take some time before Russian pivot to Asia make its appearance. Anyway, the Valdai 2015 would be no less interesting, and, above all, important.      

Feng Shaolei: It is the 12th year for the Valdai Club. According to Chinese, 12 means a cycle of Chinese traditional calendar. This is a satisfactory end of a cycle and also indicates a new beginning of another one.  In the past 12 years, Valdai Club is famous worldwide for its unique openness, strategic height, wide and profound influences on global affairs.
