Valdai Club Hosts Presentation of the Report "International Threats - 2016"
Moscow, Valdai Discussion Club Conference Hall

On March 29, 2016 the Valdai Discussion Club hosted a presentation of the report "International Threats - 2016". Experts will discuss situations, which in 2016 could jeopardize the interests of Russia and create conditions for Russia's intervention.

An active offensive policy has its advantages, but at least twice Russia missed painful blows: wrong prospects evaluation of popular unrest in Kiev in winter 2014 and not taking into account risks of military provocation by Turkey during the operation in Syria. Ukrainian and Turkish crises occurred because emerging threats fell into the so-called blind area – one can't be ready for them without proper timely notice. Even now some threats are brewing that Russia could not see.

What Russia can expect in 2016? This subject will be discussed by the authors of the report:

Andrey Sushentsov - Programme Director of the Valdai Discussion Club, political analyst and international affairs scholar at Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Russia (MGIMO-University);

Andrey Bezrukov - adviser to the Rosneft president, Associate Professor, Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Russia (MGIMO-University);

Sergey Markedonov - associate professor of the Russian State Humanitarian University;

Moderator of the event - Fyodor Lukyanov, Research Director of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club.

Among the authors of the report is also Mikhail Mamonov, Director for development of the Foreign Policy analysis group, Advisor to the President of the Russian-Chinese investment fund.

According to authors of the report, the Russian success now depends on its internal, primarily economic policy. The curtain, generated around the country, will fall apart as soon as the Russian economy shows steady growth.

Working language - Russian.

Venue: March 29, 2016 at 14:00, Valdai Discussion Club Conference hall, Bolshaya Tatarskaya, 42, Moscow, Russia.
