The Libya Crisis: Prospects for Settlement. Expert Discussion with Participation of Ahmed Maiteeq

On September 15, at 12.00, the Valdai Discussion Club will host an expert discussion, titled “The Libya Сrisis: Prospects for Settlement” with the participation of Ahmed Maiteeq, Vice Chairman of the Presidential Council of Libya and Deputy Prime Minister of Libya.

The experts will discuss the situation in Libya and Russia's role in the process of political settlement of the conflict. The participants will cover the progress in the intra-Libyan negotiations, as well as the prospects for the visit to Moscow of Libyan Prime Minister Fayez al-Sarraj. Moreover, possible fight against ISIS (banned in the Russian Federation) on the territory of Libya is also planned to be discussed. 

Lev Dengov, head of Russia's Contact Group for Intra-Libyan Settlement, will also take part in the discussion. 

Vasily Kuznetsov, head of the Center for Arab and Islamic Studies at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences is moderator of the discussion.

After the expert discussion and a press briefing in the Valdai Club conference hall, Ahmed Maiteeq and Lev Dengov will hold a closed-door meeting with representatives of the Russian expert community.
