Valdai Discussion Club Conference Hall (Bolshaya Tatarskaya 42, Moscow, Russia)
List of speakers

On May 15, 2018, at 11:00, the Valdai Club will hold an expert discussion dedicated to the situation around the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action for the Iranian Nuclear Program (JCPOA).

The Iranian nuclear deal is viewed as a major success of multilateral diplomacy. Barack Obama considered it the most important achievement of his foreign policy. However, US President Donald Trump regards the deal as a failure of the previous administration and is actively trying to revise it. On May 8, the US president took the final decision to exit from the deal.

What line will Russia follow on this issue? What can be Iran’s reaction? Should we expect resumption of the nuclear weapons program if the deal breaks up? How will it affect the dialogue on the DPRK nuclear issue and other important international security issues? These and other questions will be addressed by the discussion participants.

Andrey Bystritskiy, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club
