Historical Heritage of the Russian Revolution and Modernity
Valdai Discussion Club Conference Hall (Bolshaya Tatarskaya 42, Moscow, Russia)

On January 18, 2018, at 11:00 the Valdai Discussion Club will hold an expert discussion, titled “The historical heritage of the Russian revolution and modernity.”

The Russian revolution of 1917 and the developments that followed – the Treaty of Brest-Litovsk, the civil war in Russia, the building of socialism and the power struggle in the first years of the Soviet Union – are of particular historical significance.

These events radically changed the direction of Russia's development, transforming the country’s political and socio-economic systems. They also laid the foundation for the post-WWII confrontation between the West and the East.

What lessons can be learned from the century-old events? What is the historical importance and today’s political symbolism of the key leaders of the Russian revolution? These and other issues will be addressed by the discussion participants.
