Kayhan Barzegar


Director of the Institute for Middle East Strategic Studies (IMESS) in Tehran           

Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the Science and Research Branch of the Islamic Azad University. Kayhan Barzegar was a Research Fellow at Harvard’s Belfer Center (2007–2011), and a Post-doctorate Research Fellow at the London School of Economics (LSE) (2002–2003).

His latest publications include Political Rationality in Iranian Foreign Policy (2017); Why Trump Should Cooperate with the Iran-Russia Coalition to Defeat IS (2016); The Geopolitics of JCPOA: Iran’s Foreign Policy after the Nuclear Deal (2016); How ISIS has changed the Iran-Russia Relations (2015); How Iran Deal Could Bring Multilateralism to  Middle East (2015); To Defeat ISIS, Get Iran on Board (2015).

His latest book: Iran’s Foreign Policy in the Middle East after the Arab Spring (2015). Kayhan Barzegar is Editor-in-Chief of Discourse: An Iranian English Quarterly.
