Research interests include politics in Russia and the former Soviet states; social identities including methodological issues and measurement; nationalism, regionalism and ethnic politics; identity-related variables in public health and demography; norms and institutional change, including bureaucracy; constructivist political economy; and political psychology. She teaches courses on comparative politics, identity, institutional change, post-socialist economic transitions, and politics of the states of the Former Soviet Union.
