President Vladimir Putin believes that the tenth annual conference of the Valdai Club will he held in a special format and will include discussions of a wide range of current issues, Club member Oksana Antonenko , an expert from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, who attended the meeting with the president on Thursday, told RIA Novosti.

“President Putin said that the Club would celebrate its 10th anniversary next year and it would be befitting to hold its annual conference in a festive atmosphere to demonstrate the club’s achievements over the past 10 years,” Antonenko said. “I believe that the economic issues which we discussed this year are definitely important for the Russian government and should be on our agenda next year.”

In her opinion, the agenda should also include traditional domestic and foreign policy issues.

“I believe that foreign policy issues will definitely be on our agenda next year when the United States will have a new president and in view of changes underway in the Middle East,” the expert added.

Antonenko pointed out that the Russian government’s plans are of great interest to the EBRD.
