America Right Or Wrong: An Anatomy of American Nationalism. By Anatol Lieven

Almost a decade on, the patterns described in this book have developed further and in alarming ways. The Tea Party and the right wing of the Republican Party draw on the deep wells of American radical conservative sentiment which Lieven describes as “the American nationalist antithesis”. These tendencies have been fed by anger at the Obama presidency, and despair at the economic decline of much of the white middle classes.

Lieven now returns to his subject with a comprehensively updated new edition, in which he analyses the further radicalisation of US conservatism and its impact on the US political scene.
